Small, grid-tied DIY solar with Wi-Fi monitoring.
This 800 W grid-tied microinverter (model WVC-800) converts DC power from one or two solar panels directly into AC power synchronized with the utility grid. Each input has its own MPPT, and built-in Wi-Fi lets you watch production in real time from the Smart Life app. It is commonly used by experienced DIYers, engineers, educators, and solar hobbyists for testing, demonstrations, and limited plug-in solar projects.
Not suitable for off grid or backup systems unless you already have a battery inverter. This device requires an active utility grid and will automatically shut down during a power outage.
Quick highlights
- Up to 800 W AC output at 120 V
- Two independent MPPT inputs, up to 500 W per panel
- Wide 22-60 V DC input window fits most modern residential panels
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth monitoring with the Smart Life app
- IP65 weather-resistant, fanless aluminum enclosure
Datasheet: WVC-800 specification sheet (PDF)

Usage Notes & Limitations
- Panel open-circuit voltage (Voc) must stay below 60 V, including the rise in cold weather. Leave headroom for winter.
- Do not exceed 500 W or 20 A short-circuit current per input
- DC polarity must be correct at all times
- Keep DC cables from panel to inverter under 3 m
- The inverter housing must be connected to ground
- Designed for grid-tied operation only (no off-grid or backup capability)
- Unit will automatically shut down if grid power is lost
- Rated down to -20 °C (-4 °F). In very cold climates, mount where it is sheltered.
- Wi-Fi monitoring requires a 2.4 GHz network within range of the inverter
- Install in a ventilated location, protected from direct sun and standing water

I rent so a full system was not an option. This microinverter let me put two panels on the balcony and feed back into the apartment circuit. Setup took ten minutes and the app shows production in real time. Super clean little unit and the price is hard to beat anywhere else.
